The San Jose Police Foundation, in cooperation with Petco on Blossom Hill Road, held a fundraiser to help the San Jose Police Departments Canine Unit. Almaden resident Ben Angileri, who is a foundation board member, coordinated the event. It allowed the public to take pictures with police dogs.

The event was a huge success and was made especially so because of the generous contributions of Almaden resident Dai-Yi Chen and Deborah Ettinger and The Ettinger Foundation. The event netted over $16,000, which will be used to purchase bullet-resistant vests and other equipment for the police dogs.

The San Jose Police Foundation is also raising money for a variety of other police programs to help make San Jose a safer city. The next event will be a bowling tournament, which will include gourmet food stations at San Jose 300 Bowl, formerly Oakridge Lanes, on May 8. For more information contact the Foundation at: www.sanjosepolicefoundation.org or Rich De La Rosa at (408) 828-1983.
